Class and Adventures part 2 (Arua)

The week was a great success!  Our team worked VERY hard, but we worked great together.  Everyone had their role and learned and grew through this experience.

We got to out one night... and on the way we danced and sang!   ...our family is so awesome!

Carol likes to make new friends... (she didn't know this kid...)

The team was able to have to a night in Arua with our friend Richard (who was part of the course).  We had worked very hard, and enjoyed a fun filled evening laughing and eating good food (the cafe we were in was very comfortable, and even stayed open so we could enjoy COLD soda!  Without power where we stayed, nothing was cold, so this was real treat)

Arua 2: Class and Adventures part 1!

Each day was spent in class.  We had an amazing group, who were dedicated to being present and committed to learning the material!  However, we did manage to get out occasionally.

Carol is becoming a very good teacher!

Father and Son:  Jeho, the son, was a little joy throughout the whole course!
 Learning from our students!
Last time I was in Arua, I saw women driving motorbikes!  Ever since then, I have wanted to learn.  So one of the afternoons, when class was over, I convinced them to teach me!  Gasper (in the blue shirt) was my primary teacher. He even ran holding the back of my bike!  I got the hang of it and only almost killed myself once...  this was Wednesday Afternoon.

Carol (still) does not know how to ride a bike, but Richard tried to teach her!
At one point, Joshua got the motor bike and said he would take Carol for a ride.  I grabbed the bicycle and went for a ride myself.  Then I saw them going, and went very fast... passing them by a mile! On the way back to the compound they saw me in front of them.  The spirit of compition got both of them and they tried to race to catch up with me, even though it was hopeless.

This was the outcome...

Joshua crashed the motor bike!
Of course... he managed to tip the motorbike on a challenging turn.  So now Carol hates all bikes even more!  Haha!  You can't see his elbow so well, but it was pretty bad.  It required some bandaged for a week or so... nurse Noelle had to step in.  Thankfully, I brought my first aid kit!  (Never leave it at home when traveling with adventurous boys!)

Jump rope... one night me and Joshua went and played pool... the other two were too tired.  So they jumped rope instead!

Apparently Bernard is very good at jumping rope!  Who knew...

Carol, learning to make Karro in the kitchen!

She'll be an amazing mom...

The local kids love the ORA playground!

Arua Photo Posts, part one

Cornerstone Veritas recently traveled to Arua, in the far north of Uganda.  It's a LONG bus journey, but made much better by traveling with 3 wonderful team members!  We were given a small house to share for the week, on the compound where we were working.  It was a beautiful time of seeing people changed and transformed.  We were well taken care of, and experienced a ton of joy and delight.  The next several posts will be photos to show you what our course was like.  Sorry the quality isn't great... still struggling with cameras.

The most epic game of Duck Duck goose ever!

The kids had a BLAST playing with Joshua and Carol.  After Duck Duck goose they played many more games as Jan and I talked.  By the end there were about 25 children who had gathered and were laughing and loving having fun.

Sadly, Bernard's Aunt passed away during the week and he had to travel to the funeral.  He was away for 3 days and we really missed him for sure!

More photos tomorrow!
